Frequently Asked Questions
Q:
Is it possible to create a transparent background in a tiff image?
A:
To fill an .tiff image background with transparency:
- Open the .tiff file in WetPaint.
- Click the frame around the fill color well to set it to interactive color mode and open the Colors panel.
- On the Colors panel, choose the color you want the background to be (or white) and drag the Opacity slider toward 0 (the closer to 0 the more transparent.).
- Select the Paint Bucket tool and click in the background of the image.
- Hold the Esc key down to check for missed background spots (inside other objects or letters).
- Save the document.
To check to see if a .tiff file has a transparent background:
- Open the .tiff file in WetPaint.
- Hold the Esc key down: if the background "moves" it is filled with transparency.
NOTE: WetPaint does not save as .gif, and OmniImage does not convert transparent backgrounds in .tiff files to .gif files. The shareware application GifOmatic 1.2 converts .tiff to .gif and maintains transparency.
