Q:
One of the resources we are using on our development project is a contract developer. We are paying this developer by the task, i.e. we negotiate a $ value for the task and the contractor agrees to complete the task for that fixed amount. In TaskMaster, I can provide a daily rate and a $/use rate but I don't see a way to enter an absolute cost for a task for a given resource. Is there a way to do this?
A:
You could do one of two things:
1. If you enter a $/use, this will actually turn out to be the absolute cost for a task for a given resource. (If this person is working on different tasks at different $ amounts, this won't work, so see (2).)
In this example, person is used on task, and the cost of using person won't change depending on the work time (i.e. it's a fixed cost for that task, which is what you want).
2. Or you could use the "Expenses" cell for each task in the task spreadsheet. You can use the "Notes" field to elaborate on the fact that the expense is associated with a resource.
