Q:
What has been added or changed in version 2.0 of OpenWrite?
A:
OpenWrite is a full-featured and easy-to-use word processor with a variety of basic and advanced features:
Headers, footers, footnotes, endnotes and multiple-column formatting make OpenWrite ideal for all types of documents, including technical reports and newsletters.
Hierarchical paragraph styles allow users to easily change the layout of an entire document by changing the formatting and style of its paragraphs
Extensive control over graphics, lets users set "clip paths" that direct how text will wrap around images, and designate whether in-line images should be "fixed" or "floating"
Support for Open Object Embedding (OOE), a powerful linking and embedding technology, eliminates the drudgery of repetitive copy/paste and allows users to embed live-linked selections from any OOE-compliant application in their documents.
Unlimited undo, kerning and line-spacing control, and more.
OpenWrite 2.0 adds compelling new functionality, including:
Support for multi-file books, with simple-to-use indexing and table of contents generation
Automatic paragraph numbering and bullet styles, with customizable markers and variable formats
Cross referencing
Redlining for easy document editing
Extensive HTML support, enabling users to quickly create and generate HTML documents for display on the World Wide Web.
OpenWrite 2.0 will begin shipping in mid-December for the SPARC-, Intel-, Motorola-, and HP PA-RISC-based versions of NEXTSTEP 3.2 or later. OpenWrite is priced at $495. OpenWrite 1.x users can upgrade to OpenWrite 2.0 for $99. Site licenses are available and OpenWrite is included, along with all other Lighthouse products, on a heavily discounted Academic CD.
