Frequently Asked Questions

Q:

How can connect to the Internet?

A:

OmniWeb is a World Wide Web browser, not an Internet connection. You must first get connected to the Internet via a local Internet service provider (check your local yellow pages) and have your connection established before you can use OmniWeb to "surf the Internet".

OmniWeb will work properly on a correctly-configured network connection which supports Domain Name Service (DNS). For more on configuring your machine, you should consult the documentation which came with your PPP implementation, or the NeXT Networking and System Administraton documentation.

Given the fact that correct configuration usually depends on site-specific information, you should also consult with your internet service provider to insure that you have the correct IP addresses for your machine as well as any gateways, routers, and name servers.
