Why do I have white/black lines in my images?

You may have the wrong aspect ratios, that is, the image was resized without keeping its proportions. Resize to original and then resize proportionately. To do this:
1. Select the image and bring up the Position Inspector
2. Click the "Original" button under Size
3. Hold the Alt key while dragging to resizing the image.
