Frequently Asked Questions

Q:

I have a Diagram! 1 document that I am now trying to modify in Diagram 2. For some reason, it appears "faded". I have a greyscale monitor and everything is dim, a light gray color, rather than black.

A:

The reason for this is that users were able to set color values in Diagram! 1 which included transparency. Such values weren't correctly interpreted by Diagram! 2, because it does not support transparency, so they came out either white or black.

Diagram! 2 does not support the use of colors with less than 100% opacity, since such colors are not supported by the PostScript print model. There were occasions running Diagram! 1.1 under NEXTSTEP 3.0 or later where colors with opacity values of less than 100% were permitted.

You can correct the problem by editing the color panel document in the Diagram! 2 document wrapper (one of the handy things about saving the color panel separately).
