Frequently Asked Questions

Q:

When I open up my Diagram!2 file that was converted from Diagram!1, I get a syntax error on open. There were some grouped lines in the Diagram.

A:

The errors are lines from the D!1 document that did not translate correctly.

If the D!1 document has a line with only one endpoint in a group, the following things happen:

_ the line data is not written out.

_ the group still tries to write out an identifier for the single vertex line when it writes its component list. (bad)

This behavior leads to syntax errors when you convert the document. A zero appears as a group component where the id of the single vertex line should appear. Deleting these lines should not cause any loss of information.

So, what you need to do is:

1. Find the .diagram2 file in /tmp

2. Make a copy of it (just to be safe.)

3. Select it in the File Viewer, and choose Open as Folder from the File menu.

4. Find the DiagramText file and open it.

5. Look for lines with just a 0 on them. Delete those lines, save the file and try to open the file.
