Frequently Asked Questions

Q:

I am unable to paste EquationBuilder's equations into Diagram2.0 (they appear as text as opposed to EPS images even though Copy As EPS is selected in EqB). I need to use these apps together.

A:

We fixed this problem in Diagram 2.1, so you should try the upgrade.

Ultimately, it's the responsibility of the destination app, e.g. Diagram!, to choose a particular representation. Diagram! does prefer the ASCII (TeX) form of the equation over EPS. Applications should prefer the EPS representation, since EPS is the richer format. Diagram!, unfortunately, does not do this.

We've tested Diagram! and EquationBuilder together and we were able to successfully copy and paste provided that we used the Copy as EPS command in EquationBuilder. The one caveat here is that you must select all of the elements in the equation before choosing the Copy as EPS command in order for it to work properly (this is most easily done by choosing the Select All command from the Edit menu in EqB prior to choosing the Copy as EPS command).

When it comes to dragging files in from EquationBuilder, that also appears to be our oversight. It probably results from Diagram! 1.1's behavior with respect to non TIFF and EPS files (they were made into file links by default). As a result of this, we don't accept them as images. We believe that this can be corrected pretty easily by including some special case code for .eqn files.

Valid for 2.x
