Concurrence Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Q:

Our department recently upgraded to version 2.5. Upon opening a Concurrence model created in the prior version, our Concurrence models containng EPS links appear to have had all of the EPS files replaced with the very first EPS file in the model. So for example, if the very first EPS file in the model was linked to a picture of the sun, all other EPS files in the model become a picture of the sun. The file links are automatically re-established to whatever the first EPS link is in the model.

The problem in question is most likely due to a bug in NEXTSTEP, which was patched by both Concurrence 2.5 and/or the NEXTSTEP 3.3 patch release. Unfortunately, all documents created with prior versions of Concurrence will still exhibit the problem, as it affected document creation. The problem is manifested in lost or misdirected links to attachments in your Concurrence documents. The source of the problem is a bug in the way which the NEXTSTEP AppKitServer interprets group permissions for the files which are used to manage link locations in the NEXTSTEP ObjectLinks mechanism. You will need to upgrade to NEXTSTEP 3.3 with the patch (supplied by NeXT). You will then need to reestablish the links in all existing documents. All new documents will link properly.
